Psalms 82 ~ Listen and Read Along

Dramatized KJV
JV McGee
This Psalm is an impeachment of unjust judges, who are officially called "gods." It represents them as put upon their trial at God's tribunal (v. 1). God Himself denounces their wickedness (v. 2), and reminds them of their duties (v. 3~4). In Psa_82:5 He declares that they are contrary to reason, and in 82:6~7 pronounces sentence upon them. Psalm 82:8 is the Psalmist's own prayer that God may manifest His righteous judgment to all the nations.

This psalm is the answer to the prayers of the believing remnant in Psalm 81. This answer is the appearance of Christ to judge. As a rule, God begins judgment in His own house (Ezekiel 9:6; 1Peter 4:17). The LORD begins the judgment by cleansing Israel from the false rulers, who were followers of the false king of Israel, namely the antichrist. These rulers, judges, will be judged first (82:7). In John 10:34 the Lord refers to these false leaders. Only He does not judge them at that time because He had not come to judge.
